The Nest

The Nest is a Pilates group specifically for families who home educate their children. It can be a challenge for any parent to take care of their own needs, particularly when a child might feel anxious about leaving home or meeting new people.

The Nest offers a space for parents to take part in a Pilates class, and for young people to choose whether they are ready to join in, observe, or bring their own source of entertainment such as a book, art activity, or perhaps their phone if that supports them to feel secure. All that is asked is if they bring an alternative activity, it is something quiet to ensure the class can take place calmly.

Each week, the class will consist of a warm up, a variety of Pilates exercises based on developing strength and increasing mobility, plus a cool down followed by a 10 minute guided relaxation. All equipment apart from mats will be provided, although if you need to borrow a mat, this can be arranged with prior notice. You are welcome to bring a blanket from home for the relaxation.

Where and When

To help families feel safe and secure enough to take part regularly, The Nest will be a closed group of a maximum of 8 families. This means signing up for a block of classes so that you get to know the other people in your group. Classes are priced at £13 a family per week. If you have any concerns regarding payment, please contact Amy to discuss your options.
